Designed by Sir William Stanier for use in express passenger trains on the LMS, many of these coaches were taken over by British Railways on nationalisation where they saw long service, often on prestige expresses.
This model wears the British Railways livery of Crimson and Cream and is of a Vestibule (Open) Composite 1st/2nd class coach.
