Blu light technology was originally developed by Apollo Health in the USA. Working with Researchers at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIH) they use a specific wavelength of blue light to alleviate the symptoms of SAD. It cannot be quantified by lux levels as in traditional lightboxes, but the manufacturer suggests that about 20 minutes per day is sufficient for a treatment.
N.B. Please be aware that there are some ‘copy cat’ versions on the market which are not regulated or tested to the same standards as these lightboxes.
